Day 12: 07/11/12 Riding Mountain NP

Wasagaming Campground, Riding Mountain National Park

Went over and checked out bowling green, the lake, and found Beaver Tails at the little bakery shop.

The bowling green was pretty surreal — when we walked up, there was an older man dressed all in flowy white clothes. He had white hair and a long gray beard. Turns out, he was one of the owners of the coffee shop at the bowling green and had been a travel photographer for National Geographic, a lifetime of international travels for sure. Out on the Bowling Green, a group of ladies dressed in fancy clothes and even fancier hats were enjoying their afternoon tea. It seemed as though perhaps tea parties were something that regularly happened there. All in all, it was a magical visit and certainly one we will never forget.

We watched the park interpreters doing some demos and eventually made our way back over to the lawn bowling place where they had pie, coffee and wifi.

For dinner, we took a dinner cruise on The Martese. It was an incredible meal! We had an interesting talk with the owner/chef who told us how she had found the boat and had to have it cut in half in order to transport it on the highway and across the bridges.
