Washington
Nason Creek Campground, Wenatchee National Forest
Left La Pine around 7:30am and made our way toward Bend. We needed to get some gas, so we decided to stop at Richard’s Donuts while we were in the area. Split a giant cinnamon twist. Delicious as usual. The drive was pretty uneventful; loved the windmills as we entered southern Washington. The barren landscape just looks so surreal with many of the beautiful structures moving slowly in the breeze.
Today's highlight was a random stop in Ellensburg, WA at Dick & Jane's Spot — amazingly creative. There are no words to describe this place other than to say it was an incredible collection of eclectic art and sculptures. My favorites: the giant hand from a fortune telling place mounted on the front of the house and the Big Red lady statue.
We found our way to Leavenworth, WA, which really wasn’t too exciting…there were lots of tourists…stopped at the visitor center for some information and then headed up the road for a potential camp spot. Being a Saturday night, all of the state parks were full…we were getting a little concerned, and very tired, and then all of a sudden, we came upon the very last campsite in the little campground at Nason Creek. Yahoo!!!
