Back in June while reviewing our plans for the walk, I noticed that there was a ferry in Souris. Zooming out, I saw that it went to somewhere called Magdalen Islands that are a part of Québec! We recalculated some of our mileage and instead of one rest day in Souris, we now have two rest days on the Magdalen Islands! Experiences of the Day
After having won $40 last night, we decided to take Shirley out for breakfast at Evergreen. She met us there at 9:00am and we visited and drank coffee while we waited for our food.
Took a brief tour of the little museum. Kelsey our guide told us about the special undertaker carriage that had wheels and blades for travel during the icy months. After the tour, we said our goodbyes, stopped by the drugstore for a blanket for the ferry (Debra at the Shanty Stay had recommended it), picked up our packs from the Shanty Stay, and hopped on the ferry. We had a wonderful ride - it was so relaxing! Partway into the trip I heard music and realized that there was a woman entertaining people on the back deck. It was so much fun and she had a wonderful voice. I sat back and listened with my umbrella in hand (no need for a blanket today!).
Arrived on the island, made a quick trip to the visitor info center and then walked to the hostel. It was a beautiful place and we were happy to be there - especially with our own room.

- Dinner: Beans with freezedried meal, broccoli cheddar soup, snacks.
