Day #18: Dalvay by the Sea

Wednesday, Aug 12

Temperature: High 75°F / Low 63°F
Conditions: Sun with some clouds
Distance Walked: 30.5k

Experiences of the Day

Made a quick stop at Gallants Country Food Market for lunch snacks before turning onto Grand Pere Point Road. I had stopped for a short break near a bench at Rustico Resort when Therese rode up on her bike. As I took my pack off, the owner of the resort came out to say hello and offered us free coffee and breakfast. We sat sipping espresso with a gorgeous view at the resort!

We stopped at Roe's for fish tacos. While there, I chatted with Judy who was out for a drive with her husband; they are retired  farmers. Being retired and very tired with just 6k to go, I asked if by any chance she would drop my backpack off at Dalvay. She said yes and I had a most delightful walk carrying just my umbrella and my Gatorade. More trail magic.

And then at 10:15 tonight, trail angel Paula and husband Pat show up to transport Anne! Wow. Two hours from the Island Walk FB group post to pickup! Seriously PEI people are impressive!

Breakfast: Freeze dried egg scramble, lefter over noodles, Greek yogurt, banana, coffee.
Snacks: Fresh baked sourdogh bread from Gallants Country Food Market, peanuts, Gatorade, 1/2 beef stick.
Lunch: Roe's - fish taco and shrimp taco. Scrumptious.
Dinner: Splurge of the trip...Dalvay by the Sea. Summer Salad (Soleil’s greens, apple raspberry vinaigrette, goat cheese, radish, compressed watermelon,
cucumber, cherry tomato, pickled shallots, candied spiced pecans); Pan-seared Island halibut, mango chirmol, coconut rice (Lynn) and Grilled Atlantic salmon, chili glaze, cucumber pico de gallo, herb roasted baby potatoes (Therese)
