Experiences of the Day

We are having fun! I slept in and timed my walk for the Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place tour at 11am. When I left Stanley Bridge, Therese rode over to see Fred and Linda (who we met in Summerside when they were volunteering at The Elements show at the School of Piping) to ask for some twine and duct tape. Time was short and they ended up driving her and Anne to the park. I was walking along the road in Cavendish  when they spotted me...Fred pulled over, turned on his hazard lights, hopped out of his car, and ran across the highway to give me a giant bear hug! Back in the car, he drove on to the park. As I walked up, who do I see at the park entrance but Linda! She was waiting to walk up the hill with me to the visitor center! So much trail magic!

We had a great tour and then we walked over to see the Cavendish Post Office and tour its small museum. The PO has the hat box of LM Montgomery, which is where she stored the Anne of Green Gables manuscripts after they were rejected five times! Fred and Linda came back to meet up with us and while we were touring, Fred tuned up the bicycle -- he cleaned and oiled the chain and tightened the brakes!! It's just amazing the people who you meet. Magic angels!

The Gulf Shores Trail in Cavendish and the boardwalk in Rustico were definite highlights as we enjoyed being by the ocean and away from cars. Oh, and you'll never believe who I saw riding bicycles on the trail: our trail angel Jo-anne, who was out for a ride with her two friends.

We loved staying at The Pines Motel in Rusticoville. It was quiet, had beautiful views, the sheets were super soft and the owners were very nice people.
